HME Drive-Thru Headset Buying Guide: NEXEO vs EOS vs ION

If your drive-thru headsets are cutting out, dying mid-shift, or just showing their age, you're probably deciding between HME's current systems — and it's not always obvious which one fits your restaurant. First, the one rule that matters: buy genuine, buy from a dealer

Drive-thru audio runs your whole front line. Gray-market and "compatible" headsets and batteries are the number-one cause of dropped audio, short battery life, and systems that won't hold a firmware update. NEXEO | HDX — the current flagship

NEXEO | HDX is HME's newest all-in-one platform and where most new installs and upgrades are going. It's built for busy, multi-lane operations that want the best audio clarity, the longest headset life, and the newest features. It runs on the BAT70 battery and pairs with the current base station and speaker hardware.

Choose NEXEO | HDX if: you're building new, running a high-volume or multi-lane store, or standardizing a fleet of locations and want to be on the platform HME will support the longest.

EOS | HD — proven, cost-effective all-in-one

EOS | HD (the HS6200 headset) is a reliable all-in-one headset that's been a workhorse for QSR operators. It runs on the BAT50 battery. If your store is already on an EOS or ION system and running well, staying in that family for replacement headsets and batteries is usually the smart, lower-cost move.

Choose EOS | HD if: you want a dependable all-in-one at a lower price point than NEXEO, or you're adding headsets to an existing EOS/ION fleet and want to keep batteries and chargers interchangeable.

ION | IQ — legacy, still supported

Many stores are still running ION | IQ, and it's still a solid system. ION | IQ headsets share the BAT50 battery family with EOS, which keeps your battery and charger stock simple. If you're on ION and happy, there's no urgent reason to rip and replace — but if you're expanding or replacing a lot of failing units at once, it's worth pricing a NEXEO upgrade against piecemeal replacements.

Don't forget the batteries — that's what actually strands a crew

More lanes go quiet from dead batteries than from dead headsets. Match the battery to your platform:

• BAT70 — for NEXEO | HDX headsets.
• BAT50 — for EOS | HD and ION | IQ headsets.
